2011 Distinguished Alumnus Award Recipient
Rick Wrensch, this year’s Alumnus of the Year, graduated from Johnson Creek High School in 1971, completing twelve years as a student of the Johnson Creek Schools. Rick went on to graduate from Milton College in 1974 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He continued his education by pursuing a degree in accounting and received his Master’s Degree from the University of South Florida in 1976. Upon returning to Wisconsin, Rick worked in the private industry serving in various administrative and financial roles in three area companies. In 1992 Rick started his own CPA firm in Mayville where it grew to include 750 clients. He sold the business in 1999 and moved back to Johnson Creek and started a CPA firm. Most recently Rick formed a partnership with Mike Wendt to form Family Wealth Advisors, LLC, which is located in Johnson Creek and specializes in financial and retirement planning.
Throughout the time Rick pursued various avenues to utilize his education and establish a career in his chosen field, he has been an advocate for the youth of the Johnson Creek community. A constant presence at various school activities and basketball games and sought after because of his interest in mentoring students, Rick is well known for his support of young people. Due to his willingness to allow students to participate in “job-shadowing”, he can name several young men who followed in his footsteps and now have careers in accounting and finance. During the summer he hosts many outings for young people on his boat for boating and waterskiing. He is currently working on building a skateboard park in Johnson Creek, a project designed to provide an activity for youth during their leisure time. A fund has been established with contributions greatly appreciated!
Rick has been an active member of the Chamber of Commerce in all communities in which he has lived and is currently a member of the Johnson Creek Chamber of Commerce. He has served on the Johnson Creek Board of Education, the Johnson Creek Education Foundation and has served in various positions in his church.
