  Morning Announcements


Today Is Friday, May 18, 2012


Students interested in running for the Office of President for Student Council please see Mr. Stovall by Monday.

Next year, Introduction to Psychology will be offered at school.  It is a college level class taught by an instructor from MATC.  If you are interested in taking the class, see Ms. Frank for more information.

There will be a kickball game this Saturday from 6-8 p.m. in Lake Mills.  See Brittany Wirth for more details.

There is a mandatory NHS Meeting about the induction and graduation ceremonies for NHS members on Monday at 11:30 a.m. in Mrs. Zellmer’s room.  Every member must be present!  Please see Mrs. Zellmer with questions.

Spanish Club Chicago Fieldtrip!  Those going to Chicago Wednesday need to attend a mandatory meeting on Tuesday at 11:25 a.m. in Sra. Collar’s room.  It will be quick, but a must to go over our plans for the day in Chicago.

Anyone going to the American Players Theatre, or Great America or being a part of the College Preview Class should see Mr. Johnson this week.

Library Due Dates

With the school year winding down the library staff asks that you return all library materials by May 25.  Tha last day t check out materials wil be May 18.  Sometimes materials can get put in places that you wouldn't expect, click here for some suggestions on places to look for those lost materials.  With your help we can retrieve all materials and you can avoid paying for lost materials.

Spanish Club Trip

Sra. Collar and nine girls traveled to Spain, Morocco and Gibraltar recently and had the experience of a lifetime! This picture, taken at the Real Alcazar (Royal Palace) in Sevilla shows the influence of Arabic architecture in Spain. Their travels included stays in Madrid, Grenada, Sevilla, and the Costa del Sol.. with day visits to Gibraltar and Morocco. There were camel rides in Morocco and many monkeys in Gibraltar!

Johnson Creek FBLA attends State Leadership Conference in La Crosse 

 

Select FBLA members attended the state leadership conference in La Crosse over spring break. The students attended varioius workshops and a break-out seminar by a guest motivational speaker. Students also competed in various events against students from accross the state. Cara Argus and Zach Radisky took 8th place in business presentation, Nathan Frey took 5th place in Computer Problem Solving and Colleen Walsh took first place in Help Desk, which qualified her for the national conference in San Antonio, TX.  Congratulations to these members!

Badger Girls State Representative Announced


Johnson Creek High School recognizes Olivia Heckel as this year’s representative at Badger Girls State and is additionally supported by American Legion Auxiliary 305.

This week long youth program is held each June at UW Oshkosh. Student s are nominated by their teachers for this honor. The purpose of Badger Girls State is to prepare girls of high school age in Wisconsin for citizenship in a modern world where government touches their lives in multiple ways.

Olivia, a Junior, is a very active member of the Johnson Creek High School community. She participates in Spanish Club, National Honor Society, Jazz Band and serves as Secretary of the Art Club. Outside of school Olivia is a member of the Farmington All Stars 4-H Club and her church youth group. This summer she will be traveling to New Orleans to help with service projects . Olivia also does community service through her 4-H club by doing roadside clean-up on area roads. She is employed by Jelli’s Market.  Olivia's future plans are to go on to Art school for interior design or to obtain a degree in architecture. Olivia is the daughter of  Melanie (Fritzi) and Fred Heckel.

 

Badger Boys State Delegate Announced

Johnson Creek High School recognizes Jonathan Kupsche as this year’s representative at Badger Boys State. Badger Boys State is supported by the American Legion Post 305. Held each June, this week-long youth program takes place on the Ripon College campus. Badger Boys State teaches Wisconsin high-school students leadership and the workings of government. Students are nominated by their teachers for this honor. Jonathan has been involved in many extra curricular activities during his high school career including; National Honor Society, Student Council, Spanish Club, Letter Club, Forensics, FBLA, District and State Solo & Ensemble, Jazz Band and the spring musicals. Jonathan also has played Football and Baseball. He currently serves the Junior Class Vice President.

Jonathan gives back to the community by volunteering. Some of the ways he volunteers are; playing cards at Sunset Ridge, wrapping presents for nursing homes, playing Christmas songs for village parties as well as other volunteer activities through church. Jonathan plans on attending a four college after graduation but is undecided for declaring a major. Jonathan is the son of Marybeth and Tom Kupsche.

The 2011-12 yearbook class is off to a great start with the yearbook for 2012..Our theme is "Two Steps Forward, One Look Back", Which will be incorporated throughout the book,  This year we have decided to dedicate the book to Mr. Joseph Brown who has been teaching at Johnson Creek for   18 years.  The book will be in color and will contain a historical compilation of photos and captions telling wonderful stories of the school year.
